This is our ship, parked in the North Port of Moscow

The port building was a Soviet style complete with gold star.

We had a quick bus tour to get some sense of what's where.

Once a palace, now many of these buildings are used as offices.
The Cathedral of the Annunciation

The Tsar had this private booth. It is mounted on four stone lions -- since the sculptors had never seen a lion, they look like housecats.

 

Frescoes cover the walls and ceiling.

Novodevichiy Convent as seen across the Moscow River. This convent was the home for wives no longer wanted by Tsars.  
Down into the Metro -- 371 steps on this escalator.

Each station has a different theme.
