Moscow (1)

We had a quick bus tour to get some sense of what's where. | Once a palace, now many of these buildings are used as offices.
The Cathedral of the Annunciation | The Tsar had this private booth. It is mounted
on four stone lions -- since the sculptors had never seen a lion, they look
like housecats.
Frescoes cover the walls and ceiling. |
||
Novodevichiy Convent as seen across the Moscow River. This convent was the home for wives no longer wanted by Tsars.
Down into the Metro -- 371 steps on this escalator. Each station has a different theme. |
|||
On the corner of Red Square - a gem - St. Basil's.
